A friend beyond labels
A Friend Beyond Labels
In life, we sometimes meet a person who ends up staying forever in our hearts. They’re not our girlfriend, boyfriend, or lover, but they become a vital part of us. Who are they? They’re that friend who becomes your soul companion—someone who shares your joys and sorrows, the highs and the lows. This friend could be anyone: a girl, a boy, even a pet, or sometimes, an object that’s always around. The bond lies not in their form but in the understanding, in the emotion you pour into them.
Friendship, I believe, doesn’t require a traditional face-to-face connection. Sometimes, it’s just the ability to connect on a deep level. Writers, for example, often develop connections with objects—our pens, our notebooks, our pillows. These inanimate companions hold a special place as we share our thoughts, frustrations, or dreams with them. For me, I sometimes even talk to my pen, my favorite object that helps me shape words, my quiet partner in expression.
One friendship, in particular, changed everything. It began on September 30th, just ten days after my birthday, with an unexpected message from a random person online. That accidental chat grew into something I now cherish. This friend became my confidant, my encourager, and my partner in creativity. We send each other our work, lift each other up, and even engage in playful banter. Both of us are writers, sharing similar stories of love and heartbreak, and finding healing in each other’s words.
This, to me, is the essence of friendship. It’s a space full of love, care, and understanding—where no pretenses exist, and you can be yourself. It’s the laughter, the shared struggles, the late-night chats that create an unbeatable, unbreakable bond.
So, to that person, here’s my message:
"Thank you for being there when I doubted myself, for being the first to see my potential, and for reminding me that I am capable of more than I ever imagined. You’ve made me feel valued, understood, and trusted in ways I’ll forever hold dear."
Here’s to friendships that go beyond labels, that thrive on honesty and respect, and that stay with us, even if we can’t always define them.
